When testing the resistance of an earth electrode, the resistance keeps increasing for two to three metres and then does not increase any further. Ohm's Law would seem to suggest that the resistance should keep increasing OR are there more and more, and deeper parallel paths, as the test electrode is moved further away from the electrode under test? At two or three meters, there's such a large area of conductive path that the total resistance is governed by the previous smaller 'shells` and the contact of the electrode with the earth.
