Q. I have to watch these videos of non identifiable substances and all it shows is it's Appearance, Malleability, Conductivity and reaction in water and acid. I don't know how I would know if these substances were non metal or metal? Any ideas?

Metals are usually gray[except copper and gold], solid except mercury metals are shiny, except when covered by there oxidation product metals are malleable, ductile, conduct heat and electricity metals react with acid to give H2 gas and a salt, very active metals react with water Nonmetals are not shiny, may be solid, liquid, gas generally have a color, are brittle not malleable do not conduct
